Here is a village ready to play in D&D 5e. Welcome to Thirmas!

This is the first of the already completed settings that I will post in this section of the blog. This is a simple village to start your adventure, or perhaps the party will almost accidentally pass through it already at a high level, just to remember how it felt to be noobs. This is the style of the village already prepared for the DM, immediately downloadable and playable/editable. This article presents an overview of what you will find in the docs, there isn’t everything for the sake of brevity. As with most of the next settings that I will put here, there is no real “story” behind the village itself, it is simply a series of places that can be explored by the party, with NPCs ready to inhabit them. The various interactions lead in one way or another to a single, simple quest. You can insert it anywhere in your campaign, possibly even extrapolating the individual places to use them in contexts you have already created. Are you in a hurry and don’t have time to read the article? No worries mate, I got you. Thirmas, village

Thirmas stands on the edge of a forest, not too far from a relatively rushing river. Few inhabitants, as well as the guards. The only authority figure in the village is Rhyta. Rhyta, from Elloril Art Human around 37 years old, a past vague and forgettable, she will provide your players a simple and brutal mission: take out the draconids who are killing her fishermen. Nothing incredible, on the other hand this setting is designed for a level 1 or 2 party, the beginning of an adventure. There are several ways to access the quest, all listed in the document, which may or may not involve the village chief.

What’s the quest?

Numerous attacks have rocked Thirmas in recent months. The woodcutters, as well as the carp fishermen in the lakes not far from the village, were attacked and/or killed by creatures similar to large lizards. The village chief will offer 25 gp for each head that will be brought back. It is possible to complete the quest even without talking to the village chief herself, and the various NPCs available will offer various services related to the skinning / reselling of the monsters brought back. The quest is divided into three small lakes, in two of which will take place battles with low-level dracoids (statblocks included in the document!). The other possible interactions are with these NPCs:
  • Tavern
  • Butcher
  • Herbalist
  • Hunters
If your players decide for any reason to mess with somebody in the tavern, there is a simple map just for the occasion.           If instead they decide to explore the woods for whatever reason, you can throw wolves at them, or whatever you want in this other map. Then, there are two more maps dedicated to the actual quest. Once the quest is complete, you can lengthen the soup with an encounter in the woods if needed, or use the delivery of the bounty by the village chief to introduce the next important element of your campaign’s plot. The choice is yours, this is just a village to make you work less when preparing the sessions.
